Japanese towns in a nuclear trade-off

Despite safety concerns, communities rely on plants for funds and jobs

When the Shimane nuclear plant was first proposed here more than 40 years ago, this rural port town put up such fierce resistance that the plant's would-be operator, Chugoku Electric, almost scrapped the project. (중략)
Two decades later, when Chugoku Electric was considering whether to expand the plant with a third reactor, Kashima once again swung into action:this time, to rally in favor.

일본 원전에 관한 기사입니다. 일본에서 시네마현에 원전을 짓기로 했었는데 주민들의 반대로 거의계획백지화하고 이십년뒤에 다시 발전소를 지으려고 했었다네요.
일본 원전사태로 세계적으로도 원전 철수를 검토하고 있고, 우리나라도 관련주들이 큰 타격을 입었습니다. 원자력을 대신할 대체에너지 개발이 필요해 보입니다.

Fear of inflation nags as China slows down 
China's economy is starting to slow, after two years of torrid growth achieved after the global downturn. Chinese manufacturers' backlogs of orders are gradually shrinking in many industries. Purchasing managers have become less optimistic about their businesses' prospects. And after surging past the United States in car sales over the past two years, the Chinese auto market unexpectedly stalled last month, as carmakers curtailed production plans.

Because the cooling of China's economy is partly a result of Beijing's efforts to contain inflation, some economists are not worried, saying a slight slowdown could be positive. And they say that after the government eases off the brakes, economic growth should quickly pick back up. (생략) 

중국 경제가 글로벌 위기 이후 2년간 눈에 띄는 성장을 나타냈지만 점차적으로 긴축으로 나서면서 중국 제조업체의 재고량도 쌓여가고 있다고 합니다. 중국 정부의 인플레이션을 막기 위한 조치 때문인데, 전문가들은 이 정도 하락세는 긍정적이고 곧 다시 상승국면이 올거라 예측하고 있습니다.

요즘 유럽발 경제위기와 미국의 지속되는 지표 부진, 그리고 중국의 긴축정책 등으로 다시 불안감이 몰려오고 있다는데, 한 전문가는 더블딥까지 간다는 전망도 내놓고 있습니다.
유로존에서 그리스 부채를 지원해주냐 안해주냐도 문제이고, 미국의 경기부양책, 중국의 인플레이션 잡기 등 아직 넘어야 할 큰 산들이 많아보입니다.
더군다나 중국은 우리나라와 아주 밀접한 관계가 있고, 중국 수출 비중이 크기 때문에 몇 몇 산업군에서는 어느 정도 타격을 받을거라 생각됩니다.
